Adoption: Fast Becoming a Trend
Nowadays, adoption is not just for those who are unable to conceive but also for those who have a desire to make a difference in the life of an orphaned child. The Times of India tells us about a couple who chose to adopt even if they are capable of conceiving a child themselves.
Sheetal Purandare was set on adopting a child even when she was still in college. Her desire was stirred up when she volunteered for a non-profit organization that furthered the cause of adoption. Sheetal is fortunate that her husband supports her in this.
For some couples though, the reasons for choosing to adopt may not really be noble. A number of couples choose to adopt because they are very busy and don’t have the time to bear a child themselves. For them, nine months is too long a wait.
Adopting a child may seem easy but in reality it’s not. Couples who choose to adopt also feel a certain anxiety and apprehension towards their adopted child. Most of their concerns are related to child-rearing and discipline.
The society is now more open-minded when it comes to the issue of adoption. The stigma attached to this practice is slowly disappearing.
