Encouragement And Support Help New Mothers
After conducting a study of more than 700 women, British and Canadian researchers say that early identification and intervention can help new moms who are at risk for depression reduce their chances of developing the condition by up to fifty percent.
CBC News tells us that new moms who are depressed will have varied symptoms such as changes in sleeping and eating patterns, feelings of tiredness, feeling of extreme hopelessness or sadness, crying for no reason at all, irritability, feelings of guilt and anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and unfounded fear for the baby’s safety.
According to the researchers, new moms who received encouragement and support from their fellow mothers showed lower risk for developing post-partum depression. So if you think that one of your friends who has just given birth is suffering from depression or at risk for this kind of disorder, then immediately grab your phone and express your encouragement and support to her. Or if you’re the one who is suffering from depression, immediately ask some of your friends to help you go through this difficult time in your life. You never know what a single phone call can do.
