International Youth Day 2010
International Youth Day is the time to commemorate the power and strength of youths across the globe. It is celebrated every year on Aug 12th since 1999 and is recognized by the United Nations (UN).
The UN defines it as an event for highlighted awareness on the requirements of young people in the middle of 10 to 24 years. This year, however, will be different as the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted a resolution to proclaim the Year commencing this International Youth Day (12 Aug 2010) as the International Year of Youth.
The theme for this year’s International Youth Day is “ Dialogue and Mutual Understanding”. The choice reflects the appreciation of the value of dialogue among youths from different cultures as well as among different generations.
This event will be a celebration of young people’s energy, imagination and initiatives and will recognize their crucial contributions to enhancing peace and development. Join in the celebrations of the International Year of Youth in different regions and countries.
