murder for loveA tragic incident was recently reported by The Times of India which involved a man, his wife and his lover’s father. Jagannatha, a native of Koratagere, killed his wife so he can continue his relationship with his lover. In essence, he committed the crime “for love”.

Jagannatha only felt compelled to marry his wife Nagarathna because of the pressure he received  from his family. He was actually in love with Manjulla, a distant relative. So even when he was already married to Nagarathna, he still continued his affair with Manjulla.

To finally get rid of his wife, Jagannatha brought her to Yeshwantpur railway station on 10 December 2009 where Manjulla’s father Rangaswamy was waiting ready to help him with his plan. They slit Nagarathna’s throat and threw her body on the railway tracks. Jagannatha told relatives that his wife ran away with some cash but his own sister was suspicious of him leading her to file a complaint with the police. Upon investigation they discovered the crime that Jagannatha has committed.

I can only say one thing on this, never force a person to marry someone he or she doesn’t love. The result can be disastrous just like in this story.
