According to Times of India, Shaili Naik did well in her preliminary exams so it was unlikely that she has ended her life because of her exam results. Shaili’s father Vilas Naik said that his daughter was calm the last time he saw her while her classmates said that she looked normal in school the day she took her life. Her entire family is still recovering from the shock caused by Shaili’s cousin’s suicide just a week before Shaili ended her life.

It’s really alarming to hear news of youths taking their own lives as they have so much ahead of them – a great future, a promising life and career. This should be a wake up call for parents to make an effort to open the communication lines between them and their teenage kids. Experts say that many kids are actually stressed and pressured but they just don’t let their parents know. So make sure that you take time to get to know your kids, spend time with them and know what they think or feel about the events that happen in their lives.
